Parent Code of Conduct

  1. I (and my guests) will be a positive role model for my child and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy, and by demonstrating positive support for all swimmers, coaches, officials and spectators at every meet, practice or club event.

  2. I will encourage my child to play by the rules and resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.

  3. I will not ridicule or yell at my child for making a mistake or losing a competition

  4. If I have concerns or questions regarding an official, parent, swimmer or coach I will pursue them through the Club President or Vice-President so that they can be dealt with in the appropriate manner.

  5. I will refrain from coaching my child or other swimmers during swim meets or practices and adhere to the "no parents on deck policies".

  6. I will respect and show appreciation for coaches and volunteers who give their time to provide sport activities for my child, understanding that I have a responsibility to be a part of my child’s development.

PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES

PARENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR CHILDREN. Coaches will be responsible for swimmers from the time they come on deck (15 minutes before scheduled practice – warm-up time) until 5 minutes after the end of the swimmers practice. PARENTS are responsible for their children in the change rooms, lobby of the rec-centre, parking lot, playground and at swim meets when they are not swimming.

I accept and will abide by the Saanich Peninsula Piranhas Swim Club Parents Code of Conduct to remain in good standing with the club.
