ABOUT
OUR SWIM PROGRAM
The Sidney Piranhas Swim Club is a not for profit swim club that is run entirely by parent volunteers. We strive to promote swimming in a fun and inclusive manner through paid coaching staff. We offer a competitive swim program for ages 5 and up.
Our swim year is divided into 2 programs: Winter Maintenance (Oct-April), and Summer Session (May-Aug). Our Winter Maintenance program focuses on stroke improvement, strength and endurance. The Summer Session focuses on meet participation, team development, as well as stroke improvement, strength and endurance.
The club hires qualified head and assistant coaches and are assisted by volunteer coaches who are usually senior Piranhas swimmers. Club membership usually averages over 100 swimmers during the summer.
Swim meets are a major part of our summer and occur most weekends through June, July, and early August. Most of the meets are on Vancouver Island with one or two in the Vancouver area. You can attend as many or as few as you wish.
We are a family oriented group, and the summer meets are not only part of the competitive swim schedule, but also a time for families to have fun together! Often many Piranha families will camp together and plan group games, outings, or meals over the weekend.
